Thanks, Mom.

I am very thankful to my mother for nurturing my interest in finance at a young age. Starting in grade school, we would spend mornings at the breakfast table going through the business section of the newspaper, discussing current events and tracking the movements of individual stocks.

After learning about price-earning ratios and more, she helped me create my first (mock) portfolio that we would track together. Eventually, I saved enough to start a real portfolio and my interest only grew from there.

I am very proud of my mother and all that she accomplished in her career, and I am thankful for all that she has done to aid in mine. I believe that our accomplishments are not our own, but are shared collectively by those that have helped us along the way. Sir Isaac Newton said it best: “If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants.”
