J. Timothy Young, JD, CFP®

Senior Vice President, Financial Advisor

  • Focus: Managing client relationships
  • Education: Juris Doctor, Columbia University and Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Yale University
  • Certifications: CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional
  • Fun Fact: I still have to travel to Antarctica in order to have experienced every continent.

More than just numbers, financial planning at its core is a people business. While deeply versed in the tools of the profession, Tim understands that ultimately success is measured by having people, generations, institutions, and businesses reach their personal goals. This takes understanding and compassion, as well as tools.

  • Tim’s more than 35 years (15 years with Hamilton Capital) of experiences arm him with a vast platform to not just answer questions, but to provide solutions. These experiences include:
Two decades of legal practice (on Wall Street and with the Vorys Sater law firm) specializing in trusts and estate planning, tax, ERISA, tax exempt entities and business strategy.
  • Being an active member of several investment committees and a trustee of multiple family trusts.
  • Until recently, serving nine years as a director of a NASDAQ-traded bank holding company.
  • Working on the boards of several non-profit organizations in the arts, education, college admissions, community service, and mental health areas.

Importantly, these experiences are coupled with his ability to listen, learn, and understand what is most important to people.

Tim’s experience is matched by his perpetual curiosity. Tim is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and is a member of the Financial Planning Association and the Columbus Bar Association.

Traveling for me is more than a hobby

I look to be able to say each day, “That is interesting.” Be it a thought, an experience, a mountain, a piece of music, a friendship or meeting a new person and learning their story. That is why I travel to new places (recently the Amazon and New Zealand), I listen and I meet people. I love to learn and then see how I might use what I learn to benefit others.
